Carey, a former high fashion model, who measures at 5'10" was well-liked by American designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent scientist and was awarded the title of Scientist in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Her father was a geologist who traveled across the globe as part of his professional career. The model began modeling for a part-time basis when she was a student attending the University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France where she briefly resided in Paris and Bordeaux, before returning back to New York in order to explore an acting career. The model was featured on Vogue and Glamour cover. In between modeling assignments she was enrolled in literary studies full-time during her time at New York University. As she studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her interest in the field grew. In 1986, she made her debut as an actor with a small part in "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, windsurfing, climbing rocks as well as whitewater rafting.
